The stencils were made for a historical mural, on the staircase at Stove and represent some of Helen Scott's 40 cats that lived here when she left in 1995 to spend her last years at Ladybank Old People's Home on Sanday. Among her cats were several white ones and these were allowed in the house, the rest inhabited the stables which by that time were disused and semi derelict.
