There is a story on the page of newspaper used in the parcel, The Orkney Herald, about a Sanday man - The Late Mr John Peace, Stratigarth - " who at the ripe age of 78 passed peacefully to his rest. Death came somewhat unexpectedly. When a young man Mr Peace took up mason work in addition to working his croft and in after years his hobby was making threshing machines, at which he was an expert. He was a staunch supporter of the Free Church and early in life associated himself with the choir of that church. Mr Peace was of a quiet disposition; not taking much part in public matters; but to those who knew him well he was extremely kind and sympathetic. the sympathy of the parish goes out to his widow, who is herself at present not in too good health ".
