' There are some dark volcanic dykes in Orkney, e.g. the intrusion that forms the platform under the Old man of Hoy - The Orcadian Swarm. The closest one to Sanday is the smaller Green Holm island south of Westray. however there may be a small dyke somewhere on Sanday not big enough to show on the map. ' - Ronald Turnbull
