Giant Barnacle Segments
the largest 1.5" long
( a complete barnacle can be 4" across )
frequently found on the North shore of Egilsay
Together they form a six sided, volcano shaped structure where the all seeing, all knowing barnacle lives. These segments are rarely, if ever, found elsewhere on Orkney shores but on Egilsay they are found in abundance. A local naturalist identifies them as Horse Barnacles.
