Bell

Bell
the smallest of 3, C19th, brass, steel, lead clapper, 2.5" high

found still hanging in the hallway at Stove, the wire bell pulls cut and disconnected.

This bell would have summoned Helen Scott when she came, reluctantly, aged 14, from her nearby family croft, to work as a servant at Stove. Her account of her childhood end here and she writes --
" I was an average child at lessons all my schooldays and loved the School and to this day regret I never could through circumstances get beyond an ordinary education".
